Cryotherapy For Warts

Cryotherapy: An Effective Treatment Method for Warts

At Feet on Focus, we understand the discomfort and frustration that warts can cause. That’s why we’re pleased to offer cryotherapy, an effective treatment option for removing warts and restoring healthy, clear skin.

What is Cryotherapy for Warts?

Cryotherapy for warts is a non-invasive treatment method that involves freezing the wart with liquid nitrogen or another cryogen. This freezing agent destroys the wart tissue, causing it to die and eventually fall off. Cryotherapy is a safe and highly effective treatment for both common warts (verruca vulgaris) and plantar warts (verruca plantaris/verruca pedis).

How Does Cryotherapy Work?

During a cryotherapy session, our experienced podiatrists will apply the freezing agent directly to the wart using a specialized applicator. The extreme cold temperature of the cryogen causes the water within the wart cells to freeze, leading to cell damage and death. Over time, the treated wart will gradually shrink and disappear, usually within a few weeks after treatment.

Benefits of Cryotherapy for Warts

  • Effective: Cryotherapy is a highly effective treatment for removing warts, with success rates ranging from 50% to 90% depending on the size and location of the wart.
  • Non-Invasive: Cryotherapy is a non-invasive treatment option that does not require surgery or anesthesia, making it suitable for patients of all ages.
  • Quick Procedure: Cryotherapy sessions are quick and convenient, typically lasting only a few minutes per wart. There is minimal discomfort during the procedure, and patients can resume their normal activities immediately afterward.
  • Minimal Side Effects: While some mild discomfort, redness, or blistering may occur at the treatment site, these side effects are temporary and generally resolve on their own within a few days.

Treatment Options at Feet on Focus

At Feet on Focus, we offer two options for cryotherapy:

  1. Cotton Bud Application: This method involves applying the freezing agent with a cotton bud and holding it on the wart for 10 to 20 seconds. This may be applied to the wart a few times depending on the size of the wart. This type is inexpensive, and many warts can be treated in a single session at no extra cost.
  2. CryoIQ Cryopen: Our second option is the CryoIQ Cryopen, a state-of-the-art device that delivers liquid nitrogen precisely to the affected wart. This method is very precise and fast, making it almost painless and more comfortable during treatment. Costs will vary depending on the number of warts to be treated.
